Updates and Reminders for Promoting Scholarships

October has arrived, and a new cycle of promoting and working on IU scholarships for deserving students is upon us. Today, we’ll kick off a series of blog posts in the month of October from Anne Bono, Director of Business Development & Scholarships at the Alumni Association.

The scholarship cycle is beginning for another school year, and one of the most important things you can do as a volunteer is promote your scholarship to students. Today,  we have some important updates and reminders for advertising your scholarships to students.

IU is in the process of changing the student portal from OneStart to ONE. ONE is similar to OneStart but much more user-friendly. The change means that the directions to access the scholarship application we used last year have changed. Please share these directions with interested students so they do not miss out on the opportunity to be eligible for the hundreds of scholarships the IU Foundation and IU Alumni Association offer annually.

Directions for Accessing the Scholarship Application

  1.  In One, enter the keyword “scholarships” in the search bar.
  2.  Click on the “Scholarships” icon, a money symbol ($) with a graduation cap.
  3. The name of the application differs for each campus. Click “Apply” under the name for your campus.
    • Bloomington: IUAA/IUF Scholarship
    • Columbus: IU Columbus Scholarship
    • East: IU East Scholarship
    • IUPUI: IUPUI Current, Returning and Transfer Student Scholarship OR IUPUI Incoming Student Scholarship
    • Kokomo: IU Kokomo Scholarship
    • South Bend: IU South Bend Online Scholarship
    • Southeast: IU Southeast Scholarship
    • Northwest: IU Northwest Scholarship
    • IPFW students apply by logging into their myIPFW account.

Please note, that IUAA staff are automatically updating scholarship directions on the chapter websites and directing to the IUAA scholarships page for the complete details.

The open and close dates for the scholarship application differ for each campus.
The dates for 2015-2016 are:

  • Bloomington: October 1, 2015 – March 10, 2016
  • Columbus: December 1, 2015 – March 10, 2016

Don’t forget chapters can advertise their scholarships to current and incoming students from their region. Your liaison will send you a password-protected file with the contact information for students. New this year, the incoming student file will now include emails! Please make sure the individual submitting the request has submitted the ‘Agreement for the Protection of Proprietary Information.’

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your liaison.

Go IU!
