IU Athletic Ticket Purchase Policy

Appropriate usage for athletic tickets purchased by Chartered Alumni Communities.

Rationale

The Indiana University Alumni Association, Inc. (IUAA) is a 501©3 not for profit corporation. Alumni Communities (alumni chapters, constituent societies, and affiliate groups) are under the legal umbrella of IUAA, Inc. The Association must ensure that any funds provided to its communities are dispensed and appropriated in such a manner that alumni engagement remains the sole focus that drives all community activities.

Policy

Any community that purchases athletic tickets for any purpose from any Indiana University campus athletic program (i.e. Indiana University Athletics, IU East Athletics, IUPUI Athletics, etc.) can do so through documented additional revenue (event ticket sales, sponsorship, etc.). We must ensure that alumni outreach and engagement is occurring with these tickets and not used as gifts or perks for members of the board. Tickets may be used as door prizes at events and as auction items to benefit the alumni group but should not be distributed to sitting board members as a benefit of serving on the board. Allocation funds cannot be used for ticket purchases.

The IUAA does purchase both Hoosier basketball and football tickets to be used for volunteer, and alumni recognition and appreciation. Alumni leaders can send requests to their liaison for tickets.
