An Update on the IUAA/IUF Partnership

For the past year, IUAA and IUF have engaged in a very careful and thorough review of the relationship of the two organizations.

In the fall, we determined that a merger was not necessary. Over the winter, we have examined migrating the IUAA employees working for IU to become IUF employees.

Dan Smith and I have reached the determination that a complete transfer of staff from one organization to another is not necessary.

By working strategically and intentionally in recent years, 76 percent of IUAA and IUF staff currently are working in collaborative partnerships. This incremental approach, in which we collaborate as needed, is serving IU leaders, alumni, and friends well and is not disruptive to our committed and talented staff working for the two organizations.

A wholesale migration of IUAA staff to IUF simply risks distracting us from the priorities of the capital campaign and the steady work we do to develop a pipeline of generous, loyal alumni and friends.

We appreciate all the good, thorough work that has been done by IUAA staff and board members to examine the relationship. Thank you all very much.

Gratefully,
JT.
