Leveraging your Events

There are several ways to leverage your alumni events to grow membership.

Here are some things you can do even before your event begins:

  • Start with offering a discount to members of at least 20 percent or $5, whichever is higher. For example, at Hoosier Village tailgates, members pay $15 for the buffet, while non-members pay $20. Recognition of their membership status, even if it’s only $5 off, can go a long way with members, and reinforces the value of their membership.
  • On your online event registration forms, include a “become a member” option. Voila! These freshly minted members are now eligible for the discounted event price.
  • Letting members register early for events (especially those events known to sell out) and sponsoring members-only events, are also great ways to show members how much they are appreciated.
