IUAA Election 2021 is a Wrap!

The members of the Indiana University Alumni Association has elected its 2021-22 Board of Managers and Executive Council. Josh Kornberg, BA’12, of Sellersburg, Ind, elected 2020, will take office as chair on July 1. Vi Simpson, LLB’94, LHD’13, of Bloomington, Ind., elected in 2019, will serve as immediate past chair. Board of Managers officers serve for one year. At-large members of the Board of Managers serve for three years.

Chair-Elect

Jeannie Sager, MA’03, of Carmel, Ind.

Jeannie serves as director of the Women’s Philanthropy Institute at the IUPUI Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. A development professional for 20 years, she previously worked as director of philanthropy at the IU Health Foundation, the IU School of Medicine as director for the Dean’s Council and Special Programs, and IU Foundation. She is a long-time member of the Alumni Council of IUPUI and received the Maynard K. Hine Medal in 2017.

Vice Chair

Nicole Yates, BGS’07, of New Albany, Ind.

Nicole served IU as Executive Council member, Southern Indiana/Louisville Alumni Chapter board member, and a member of the IU Southeast Alumni board. She has been named 2020 Most Admired in Politics for Today’s Woman Now magazine and she currently is the associate vice president of community engagement for Molina Healthcare in Louisville.

Secretary

Shontrai Irving, BA’97, JD/MA’03, of Gary, Ind.

Shontrai is a clinical professor of business law at Purdue University Northwest.  He is past president of the national board of the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club and in 2010, he was awarded the Charlie Nelms Alumni Award and the Hudson Holland Scholars Program Service Award for outstanding service to Indiana University.

Treasurer

Jason Dudich, BS’01, of Indianapolis

Jason has served as budget director for the Indiana’s State Budget Agency, chief of staff for the Mayor of Indianapolis, and now as chief financial officer for University of Indianapolis. His service to IU includes the Distinguished Alumni Council for the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs from beginning in 2015 and as a member of the Executive Council beginning in 2016.

Manager At Large

Kyle King, BS’07, OD’11, of Evansville, Ind.

Kyle has served in leadership positions with the Evansville, Optometry, and Marching Hundred alumni communities. He was instrumental in leading and successfully executing a one of the largest fundraising campaigns of its kind for the Evansville Chapter of the IUAA. Kyle received the IUAA Volunteer Leadership Award in 2019. He works as an optometrist at Evansville Eyecare Associates.

Manager At Large

Sandy Searcy, BS’86, MS’87, of Bloomington, Ind.

Sandy became the first woman president of the I Association in 2009. She served as a member of the Executive Council from 2010-2016 and won the I Association’s Leann Grotke Award in 2011, the School of Public Health Anita Aldrich Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012 and the IUAA President’s Award in 2019.  She is Director of Sport for the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Student Representative

Safia A. Mohiuddin of Gary, Ind.

Safia is an IU Northwest sophomore majoring in biochemistry/pre-med. She plans to graduate in 2023 and shortly thereafter, attend medical school. Safia serves as the social media coordinator for the Student Alumni Association, the fundraising chair for the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), is president of the Pre-Professional Studies Club, and is a senator with the Student Government Association.

The student member of the Board of Managers is the only volunteer member that is not elected; this position is nominated by the campus and appointed by the current members of the Board of Managers.

Executive Council

The 36-member Executive Council serves as the advisory body of the IU Alumni Association, initiating and reviewing the various activities of the Association. The term is three years, and each member of the Executive Council serves in an at-large capacity.
